PUTRAJAYA, 8June: According to Education Director-General Datuk Pkharuddin Ghazali, a total of 10,109 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2022 candidates received outstanding grades of A+, A, and A- in all the subjects.

In releasing the 2022 SPM examination results here, he stated that this year’s National Average Grade (GPN) score of 4.74 was higher than last year’s 4.86.

Generally, a lower GPN value indicates better candidate achievement.

“In addition, 75,322 candidates obtained average results with at least a C in all subjects,” he added.

According to Pkharuddin, a total of 342,742 or 91.6 percent of 2022 candidates were qualified to get certificates, up from 88.1 percent or 336,630 candidates previous year.

“This is the best achievement since the certification requirement was introduced, and for the first time, over 90% would be awarded,” he stated, adding that the 2013 requirement was that candidates acquire at least a pass in Malay Language and History subjects.

Pkharuddin also commented that the Standard Secondary School Curriculum (KSSM), which was implemented by the Education Ministry, had helped candidates prepare more for the exams, when inquired about about factors that contributed to the SPM 2022 results.

“Since this is the second year using the new KSSM format, teachers and students should have references from the past year to help students prepare” Pkharuddin added as stated in NST.
