4x100m relay teams in the Asian Games have had mixed results

Kuala Lumpur, October 5: The 4x100m teams from the nation saw a day of mixed results on October 3, 2023, at the Asian Games.
The women’s team came in fourth place with a new national record time of 45.01s, but they were awarded the bronze medal as Bahrain, who had finished third, had been disqualified from the competition for passing the baton illegally at the Hangzhou Olympic Stadium, as stated by Free Malaysia Today.
Shereen Samson Vallabuoy, Azreen Nabila Alias, Nur Afrina Batrisyia, and Zaidatul Husniah Zulkilfli behind Thailand (44.32s), who won the silver medal, by 0.69 seconds. With a 43.39s time, China took first place.
Shereen had already won a bronze medal in the women’s 400-meter event on the previous Saturday.
Since the 1966 Bangkok Games, when the M. Rajamani-led team won bronze, this is Malaysia’s first medal in the competition.
The men’s 4x100m team, on the other hand, did not fare as well since they were disqualified for a lane violation – Free Malaysia Today.
Initially placing fifth with times of 39.19 seconds, Khairul Hafiz Jantan, Arsyad Saat, Jonathan Nyepa, and Azeem Fahmi were just 0.1 seconds off the national record (39.09 seconds) achieved in the SEA Games last year.
South Korea finished third (38.74s), Japan came in second (38.44s) and China took first place (38.29s).
