Actions will be taken against anti-vaccine groups for spreading lies
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16: Stern action will be taken against the anti-vaccine groups as there are a number of legal measures that may be used against them.
However, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said that the action will be taken not because they were anti-vaccine, but for spreading false news.
“Indeed, there are several laws in our nation that may be used to take action against people who propagate fake news.
“We may take action not because of anti-vaccine sentiment, but because of the (false) misinformation they propagate.
Ismail also said that he agrees with Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin on action against the anti-vaccine groups.
Yesterday, Khairy allegedly demanded that the investigation and prosecution of the anti-vaccine group to be expedited.
He said that the his ministry had taken action by lodging police reports against anti-vaccine organisations.
However, he claimed that certain anti-vaccine groups remained obstinate and continued to propagate misleading information about the COVID-19 virus.
