By Loshinniy Nair S. Baskaran,

14th October: At 31 years old, Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli, fondly known as “adik,” broke the 31-year-old national record for the women’s 100m. She clocked an impressive 11.36 seconds at the 2024 Thailand Open, surpassing G. Shanti’s 1993 record of 11.50 seconds. Despite facing setbacks throughout her career, including injuries and the pressures of balancing her personal and professional life, Zaidatul remained determined.

Her perseverance paid off after years of commitment, training, and grit. She credits her coach, Mohd Manshahar Abdul Jalil, for consistently pushing her to achieve greater heights. For Zaidatul, this victory marks not only a personal achievement but a triumph for women in sports, especially those who have faced challenges in breaking through records and societal expectations.

Zaidatul’s journey is one of inspiration, showing that age is not a barrier to success and that with the right mindset, dedication, and support system, one can achieve their dreams. She hopes that her victory will motivate younger athletes to continue striving for excellence.

Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and the breaking of long-standing barriers in athletics, as stated in Free Malaysia Today.
