Babysitter Arrested After Toddler Dies from Fall

IPOH, 9 August: A two-year-old girl tragically died from head injuries after allegedly falling while under her babysitter’s care in Perak. The incident occurred on Monday evening when the girl was found unconscious by her father at the babysitter’s home. She was rushed to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, but despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead later that night.
Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris confirmed that an autopsy revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. The 30-year-old babysitter has been arrested, and authorities are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which addresses child abuse and negligence.
The police are currently gathering statements from witnesses to determine the circumstances leading to the child’s fatal injuries. The investigation aims to uncover whether the fall was accidental or a result of negligence, and to hold those responsible accountable for the child’s untimely death.
