Birthday Celebration Ends in Tragic Fire, Organizer Detained

5th NOVEMBER: A birthday event in Teluk Intan took a devastating turn when an unlicensed fireworks display caused a fire, leading to the arrest of the organizer. The incident occurred at 11:38 p.m. at Arena Square, where the roof of the event hall, owned by the Teluk Intan Municipal Council (MPTI), caught fire. The flames were quickly contained by local firefighters.
Police Chief Ahmad Adnan Basri reported that the 24-year-old organizer, detained at his home, was suspected of firing pyrotechnics toward the hall’s roof, sparking the blaze. Hosting 500 attendees, the organizer allegedly provided various fireworks without proper authorization.
Authorities are investigating under Section 436 of the Penal Code for arson and Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957 for illegal possession and use of fireworks as stated in BULETIN TV3.
