17 OCTOBER: A major sinkhole formed in Bayan Lepas, Penang, due to a burst water pipe that caused severe ground erosion. Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) confirmed the pipe burst as the source of the issue.

Engineers have taken immediate action to assess the damage and begin repairs, focusing on stabilizing the area and preventing further collapse. The sinkhole appeared near a residential zone, prompting authorities to monitor for safety risks. Repair works are ongoing to restore the area with minimal disruption to residents as stated in FMT.
