22 August: A tragic accident occurred in Shah Alam involving a bus belonging to the Selangor State Secretary’s office (SUK), resulting in injuries to 21 passengers, six of whom sustained serious injuries. The incident took place on Jalan Simpang Morib in Kampung Kelanang, Kuala Langat, when the bus collided with a Honda EX5 motorcycle and veered into a two-meter-deep ditch.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call at 1:07 PM, prompting a swift response. According to JBPM Director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail, the bus was carrying 21 individuals, including 15 women and six men, all employees from the Selangor Courts, with the driver and his assistant being from SUK.
Among the injured, two men and four adults suffered severe injuries, while 15 others sustained minor injuries. The bus driver was trapped in his seat and had to be rescued by firefighters. All seriously injured victims, including the driver, were transported to Hospital Banting for emergency treatment. They are reported to be in their 30s to 40s and are currently in the yellow zone, indicating their condition is critical but not life-threatening.
Initial investigations suggest that the bus driver swerved to avoid the motorcycle, causing the vehicle to lose control and plunge into the ditch. As of now, the motorcyclist and the motorcycle involved in the collision have not been located. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to gather more details as stated in Berita Harian.
