Kuala Lumpur, June 24: According to a statement released by Cathay Pacific, there were some passengers who sustained injuries on flight CX880 due to a technical issue that prompted the airline to halt take-off at Hong Kong’s international airport earlier today.
There were 293 passengers and 17 crew members on board the trip from Hong to Los Angeles. It carried out “a discontinued take off in line with standard procedures after the crew had identified a technical issue.”
A preventive passenger evacuation was started by the crew once the aircraft reached the gate, it added. Passengers fled the aircraft through five door escape slides.
According to Malaymail, it stated that, 11 passengers who were hurt during the evacuation are receiving medical attention at a hospital. The airline’s priority is to look after all affected passengers and crew.
According to both RTHK and the police, it appears that one of the plane’s tyres experienced overheating and subsequently ruptured.
