8 SEPTEMBER: A husband and wife, aged 34 and 37, have had their remand extended by six days in connection with a drug trafficking investigation. The Kuala Terengganu Magistrate’s Court granted the extension to facilitate further inquiries into their alleged involvement in distributing illegal substances across Terengganu.
The couple was first detained on September 1 during a police operation in Taman Permint Jaya, which led to the seizure of significant quantities of yaba pills and Erimin 5, along with valuable assets.
During the raid, authorities discovered approximately 5.7 kilograms of yaba pills and 631.9 grams of Erimin 5. These drugs, estimated to be worth RM768,000, were reportedly intended for distribution within the state. Police also confiscated three vehicles, several pieces of jewelry, and a total of RM284,700 in cash believed to be linked to the drug trafficking operation. The couple has been under suspicion of orchestrating this illegal activity since early 2023.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the authorities are focused on gathering more evidence about the extent of their drug distribution network. The substantial amount of drugs and assets seized indicates a large-scale operation. Investigators are now working to uncover potential accomplices and other links to the couple’s activities, aiming to dismantle the trafficking syndicate as stated in Sinar Harian.
