KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4: The Shah Alam magistrates’ court has rejected an application by social activist S. Shashi Kumar to commence private prosecution against two Muslim converts for allegedly insulting non-Islamic faiths, because the matter is still under investigation.
Shashi Kumar said that: “Magistrate Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali has decided not to grant the leave application to proceed filed on July 26th.
“This is due to the decision made by the attorney-general’s (AGs) office, has classified the case as no Further Action (NFA). So, in his ruling the Magistrate said there’s no need to pursue this case any further.
“We will undoubtedly file an appeal in this case.
“We have 14 days to file an appeal at the supreme court,” Shashi Kumar told The Hindu Press.
Meanwhile, according to a FMT portal, Magistrate Mohamad Redza said Shashi Kumar’s complaint could also not be entertained as Firdaus Wong Wai Hung and Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu had committed a seizable offence.
The report added that, Redza said he took note of the information provided by deputy public prosecutor Ainul Amirah Abdul Razak who appeared before him in April.
