15 SEPTEMBER: In a recent operation, Kedah Customs officials made a substantial seizure of illicit goods, including alcohol and cigarettes, with a combined value exceeding RM350,000. The crackdown targeted multiple locations believed to be involved in the illegal trade of these items.

The authorities carried out a series of coordinated raids across various sites, which led to the confiscation of a large volume of unlicensed alcoholic beverages and cigarettes. These products were suspected to have been smuggled into Malaysia without the necessary permits and were being distributed through underground channels.

The successful operation underscores the Customs Department’s commitment to combating smuggling and enforcing regulations that ensure fair competition and public safety. The department’s proactive approach aims to protect local businesses from unfair practices and safeguard consumers from potentially harmful products.

Customs officials praised the effectiveness of the operation and reiterated their determination to continue their fight against illegal trade activities. They also emphasized that such enforcement actions are crucial in maintaining the integrity of the market and promoting adherence to legal standards.

The department is now focusing on further investigations to identify the individuals and networks responsible for these illicit activities, with the goal of bringing them to justice. This seizure marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to address smuggling issues and uphold the law in Kedah and beyond as stated in Buletin TV3.
