Drain Collapse Creates Large Sinkhole on Kuala Lumpur Road

By Subaashinee Kupusamy,

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 August: A collapsed drain has caused significant concern along Jalan Pantai Permai in Kampung Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur.

The incident, which was first reported on the evening of August 26, has resulted in a large hole forming in the sidewalk, posing a danger to pedestrians and motorists alike. The damaged area, which extends from the curb to the middle of the sidewalk, has raised alarm among residents, who fear that the collapse could worsen if not addressed promptly.

In response to the situation, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) quickly deployed safety barriers and cones around the affected area to prevent accidents. Photos of the scene reveal the extent of the damage, with a significant portion of the sidewalk caved in, exposing the underlying infrastructure.

DBKL has acknowledged the problem and has assured the public that steps will be taken to repair the drain and restore the area to its original state.

The incident highlights the ongoing issues with aging infrastructure in urban areas and the need for regular maintenance to prevent such occurrences as stated in The Star.
