Driver Crashes into Temple Due to Medical Condition, Not Drunk Driving: Police

13 SEPTEMBER: Police have refuted claims circulating on social media that a driver involved in a crash at a temple in Tanjung Rambutan, Ipoh, was under the influence of alcohol.
According to Perak Police Chief, Azizi Mat Aris, the 41-year-old driver, a civil servant, suffered from hypoglycemia, a condition caused by low blood sugar, which led him to lose consciousness during the incident.
Medical reports confirmed the driver had a history of diabetes.
The accident occurred while he was driving from Tanjung Rambutan Health Clinic towards Changkat Kinding. After passing a traffic light, he suddenly lost consciousness, causing him to lose control of his vehicle.
The car veered off the road, crashing into the temple and hitting a pillar. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, which was reported to the police at 8:36 AM.
The case Is being investigated under Road Traffic Rule 10, Road Traffic Rules 1959, for failing to control the vehicle, which resulted in the accident.
Azizi urged the public to refrain from posting provocative or misleading comments on social media without verified facts, warning that such actions could cause unnecessary public anxiety as stated in FMT.
