16th October: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) has secured RM13.3 billion in realised investments, RM3.3 billion more than the target, RM 10 billion. These investments are expected to generate 12,670 job opportunities, contributing significantly to Malaysia’s economic development. The ECER has attracted investments in various sectors, including manufacturing, services, and agriculture, boosting the region’s growth potential.
Anwar emphasized the government’s commitment to regional economic development through initiatives like ECER for the next five years in order to bridge the gap in development between regions and to attract more investments to east coast. The investments reflect confidence in the region’s infrastructure and development plans, aligning with Malaysia’s long-term economic goals, as stated in The Star.
