Kuala Lumpur, Sept 21: A way to reminisce and appreciate our country’s beauty can also be done with style! Styles and trends are simply boundless. On the 16th of September, an event known as “Kertapi Sarong” a flash mob muster was conducted in Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with Celebrating the 59th Hari Malaysia. Keratapi Sarong is known to be a public event where people from different ethnic backgrounds assemble to celebrate Hari Malaysia by wearing a “Sarong” (one of the famous Malay traditional attires) at a “clandestine location”. It is known to be something like a flash mob, that inspires the public to participate.
Keretapi Sarong was officiated by Random Alphabet, in 2012 initially, was put at a halt around 2015 or 2016, and got started back in the year 2017. This year, Keretapi Sarong was a little more diversified and seemed to be exceptional as students from all around the state happily and actively took part in it, and Deavasharman 23, a youngster from United Malaysian Hindu Voice, has shared his thoughts by quoting that “It was fascinating to observe the various cultures and fashions from the 1960s to the 1980s. Since this year’s theme was retro fashion, the Locco event, Keretapi Sarong 22, brought back some memories and offered a glimpse of earlier clothing dynamics.
Since it was my first time participating in this event, everyone I encountered never failed to enchant me. They were all dressed in their traditional garb and exuded contagious smiles. I enjoyed myself while displaying formal attire to the neighborhood. Since our traditional attire was a little distinct from the others, many people liked it. We observed that there are a lot more cultures and styles than we had previously realized. We take great pride in indicating the Hindu community and displaying our traditional garb. The event has been fantastic, and I’m thrilled to be a Malaysian”, said the delighted 23-year-old citizen.
