Enhancing Graduate Employability through Practical Training Initiatives

By Loshinniy Nair S. Baskaran,

20th November: The Malaysian government is actively working to improve graduate employability by promoting practical training programs. The Graduate Career Accelerated Programme (GCAP) aims to equip graduates with essential skills for the service industry, offering interactive training and a Professional Certificate in Global Service Management upon completion.

Additionally, the Industrial Training Scheme (ITS) provides financial assistance to undergraduates during their internships, enhancing their practical experience. The new LiKES matching grant further supports SMEs in providing structured internships, ensuring that young talents gain valuable work experience.

These initiatives reflect a commitment to aligning educational outcomes with industry needs, ultimately fostering a more skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of Malaysia’s evolving job market. As these programs expand, they are expected to significantly enhance career prospects for graduates across various sectors, as stated in The Star.
