17 SEPTEMBER: In Bukit Selambau, Kedah, a man was severely injured after a tree collapsed onto his house. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when the large tree, weakened by recent heavy rains and strong winds, toppled over and crashed into the residence.
The man, identified as 45-year-old Nordin Hassan, was asleep in the house when the tree fell. The impact caused significant damage to the structure of the home and left Nordin trapped under the debris. Emergency services responded promptly to the distress call and managed to rescue him after a tense operation. Nordin was then rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the tree’s fall. Initial reports suggest that the severe weather conditions leading up to the event may have contributed to the tree’s instability. Meanwhile, local officials are assessing the area to prevent similar occurrences and to provide aid to those affected by the damage as stated in Malaymail.
