Father and Daughter Fatally Crushed by Fallen Tree in Banting

19th September 2024 – A tragic accident in Kampung Bukit Changgang, Banting, claimed the lives of a father and his 10-year-old daughter when a large tree collapsed on them. The incident occurred early in the morning as the father, 42, was riding his motorcycle, taking his daughter to school.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 7:40 a.m. and immediately responded. Upon arrival, they found both victims trapped beneath the fallen tree. Despite rescue efforts, the father and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
The police have taken over the investigation, and the bodies have been transported to the hospital for post-mortem examinations. Banting residents were left in shock, as the area had experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds recently, which may have contributed to the tree falling.
Authorities have urged local councils to inspect and maintain trees in public areas, especially after storms, to prevent future tragedies. Local officials expressed their condolences to the grieving family, and arrangements are being made to support them during this difficult time.
