Father of student found dead in hostel demands answers

KUALA LUMPUR: The tragic death of Vinosiny Sivakumar, a student at the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), two days ago allegedly due to electrocution has left her family in a state of shock.

Vinosiny, a second-year student in accounting, was found dead in a university dormitory last Saturday.

Police are still investigating the death of the student.

Vinosiny’s father R. Sivakumar has demanded to know the truth behind the death of his daughter.

According to Vanakam Malaysia, Sivakumar said he wanted to know if the cause of the tragic incident was the electrical appliances used by his daughter or the university building electrical system.

Vanakam Malaysia reported that Vinosiny was using a laptop at the time of her death and had air pods fitted to his ears.

Meanwhile, a student from the university, who did not want to be named, said there were frequent power outages on the university campus.

The student was also quoted as saying that the university had only issued occasional warnings regarding the use of high-voltage power tools, and that there was talk among fellow students that no action had been taken to rectify it permanently.
