FlySiswa Flight Discount Reinstated for Public Tertiary Education Students

By Loshinniy Nair Baskaran

Kuala Lumpur, 2nd May: The FlySiswa flight discount program has been reinstated, offering subsidised airfare to Malaysian students enrolled in public tertiary education institutions. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on students travelling between their hometowns and universities. The discount, initially launched in 2022 but temporarily suspended due to pandemic-related restrictions, has been welcomed back by students and families alike.

Through FlySiswa, eligible students can enjoy a 50% discount on domestic flights operated by Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and Firefly. This significant reduction in airfare is expected to facilitate easier access to education for students residing in different states across Malaysia.

The initiative forms a vital component of the Malaysian government’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and affordability in higher education. Through subsidizing travel expenses, students are empowered to pursue their academic ambitions unhindered by financial limitations.

In order to be eligible for the FlySiswa discount, students must be enrolled full-time in undergraduate or postgraduate programs at public universities or colleges accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. They are required to present their student identification cards when booking flights to avail of the subsidy.

With the reinstatement of FlySiswa, students can once again take advantage of reduced travel expenses, fostering greater mobility and educational opportunities throughout the country. – As Stated in The Star
