Foreigner Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping of Two-Year-Old Boy in Rawang

23 October: A foreign national was apprehended in Kampung Bunga Raya, Rawang, after attempting to abduct a two-year-old boy. The incident took place at around 12:40 PM when the suspect, posing as a cleaner, attempted to lure the child away. Fortunately, the boy’s mother heard the commotion and rushed to intervene. Despite the suspect’s efforts to flee, he was swiftly caught by local residents near a nearby rubbish disposal site.
The boy’s mother recounted that she had been alerted to the situation by a neighbour’s screams. Witnesses stated that the suspect attempted to run after realizing his act had been noticed, but vigilant residents were quick to act, capturing him after a brief struggle. The suspect was detained and handed over to the authorities, who are now investigating the case.
Police confirmed that the suspect is being investigated under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping. However, they also cautioned the public against taking matters into their own hands and urged them to allow the authorities to handle such situations appropriately.
This incident has caused widespread concern in the community, prompting authorities to remind parents to be vigilant, especially in public areas. It has also underscored the importance of maintaining strong neighbourhood networks, as the quick response of residents played a key role in preventing what could have been a tragic event.
