KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25: Kota Kemuning state assemblyperson V. Ganabatirau condemned Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) employees during a visit to flood-prone area Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam recently.

“October 24th, I returned to the Taman Seri Muda pump house. On the 23rd of October, I was with the MBSA, including Datuk Bandar, who came to assist us greatly.

“When Datuk Bandar and his department were all good, I respected them.

“On 23rd October, the deputy director of District of Irrigation and Drainage, DID from Klang came here. They said yesterday I should have called them to discuss in the air condition office.

“But what they forgot is that we have done it not one or two or three but many times we have discussed since 2018 the big floods happened.

“In 2019 we have discussed and finally they agreed that a pump will be developed near here that high power will do,” he said.

“Their promises for 2019 did not happen, they talked about that they need to study, there was a drawing to do research and so on.

“Finally, in 2020 they said their allocation was also to appoint a contractor, there should be works to repair the pump house building here in 2020.

“However, they did not do it and finally the appointment of a contractor was delayed. When they come, put up a signboard here in May or June 2021. There is a sign board here. The sign board has stated that the pump installation work will take place on July 1, 2021.

“The flood caused me to come here the night. When I came, I saw the house pump was not moving because there was no diesel. The pump next door, the bigger pump we don’t know any other story,” he added.

“When they look at the design, they don’t even know how to take care of it. I complain to the director of DID. Finally, a week or two ago they came, and the sign board has been removed.

“The sign board was eventually overthrown. When I asked why not start work, someone told me MITI did not give permission. This is the work that caused a major flood near Sri Muda.

“This work for community welfare, community interest. Then I asked to show the letter which MITI does not allow,”

“Another issue is, while two pumps were installed, one pump is now missing. He said it’s broken took it back when asked.

“This is the monsoon month. He himself released this mythology saying that the worst rain will happen this month or next month. This October and November are the most dangerous months for us he said.

“But the pump house, one pump is missing. Two or three days ago there was a flood where I was standing here.

“If the flood here is like this, please look at the house next to this. Seri Muda flood is not just about houses but also suraus and schools.

“This is not a matter of race or religion. Please stop that. Every time I get angry, some said Ganabatirau rivet, evil, communist, but what we must understand is the problem of multiracial people.

“It’s not a matter of one race or religion. Don’t turn around. We’re tired.

“Easy to blame others, this work is all a failure of DID,” he added.
