Genting Highland Landslide – kills 13, dozens missing

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 December 2022: A landslide occurred early today at Genting Highlands, 31 people were safe, 13 died and people are still missing, according to Fire Department, with ongoing search operations.
Till 11.30 am, 100 individuals were caught in the landslide, according to the national fire agency. As of 11 am, 31 people are safe, the department added.
The landslide happened at a campsite near a road and Father’s Organic Farm in Gohtong Jaya, reported by Bernama, which subsequently added that kids were found demised.
Firefighters started showing up at the scene at about 3 am, said Norazam Khamis, director of Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.
He also added that “The Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Squad of Malaysia (STORM) team is conducting the search and rescue mission for the victims.
The Selangor department and Malaysia’s Special Team (PASPA) joined the search and rescue effort, as seen in photographs posted on Twitter by the Civil Defense Force of Malaysia.
