22nd September 2024: Authorities have detained 155 individuals involved in a human trafficking and forced labor syndicate, with 186 victims successfully rescued.
This operation was carried out by the Malaysian police following a raid on a location operated by the Global Ikhwan Sdn Bhd (GISBH). The victims, mostly foreign nationals, were forced into labor under exploitative conditions.
The raid uncovered disturbing practices of modern slavery, and the police have since intensified their investigations to bring all those responsible to justice. The detained suspects are believed to have played significant roles in the syndicate, which operated across various states in Malaysia.
The authorities have pledged to continue their efforts in combating human trafficking, with close coordination between local and international agencies. Law enforcement is committed to ensuring that the victims receive the necessary care and support, including counseling and rehabilitation services.
This case highlights the ongoing challenge of human trafficking in Malaysia, and the government remains steadfast in its goal to eradicate such crimes.
The public is also encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to human trafficking to assist in the nationwide crackdown against these illegal operations, as stated in Sinar Harian.
