Government to Amend Trustee Acts to Enhance Governance and Prevent Fund Misappropriation

10th September 2024 –The Malaysian government has agreed to amend the Trustee (Incorporation) Act 1952 and the Trustee Act 1949 to prevent the misappropriation of funds meant for religious, social, and welfare activities.
The amendments aim to improve governance, transparency, and accountability through enhanced monitoring and oversight of trustee activities. These reforms are part of broader efforts to address corruption, particularly in government procurement.
The government also encourages companies with Government Work Procurement Certificates to adopt the MS ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System, as stated in Bernama
