Hong Leong Bank Named Best SME Bank in Malaysia by Euromoney

26 SEPTEMBER: Hong Leong Bank has been recognized as the Best SME Bank in Malaysia at the prestigious Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2024. This achievement is largely attributed to the bank’s community banking initiatives, which saw a remarkable 12.6% year-on-year growth, nearly double the industry average of 6.7%.

The bank credits its success to a strong focus on innovation and technology, which has enhanced the banking experience for SMEs of all sizes. One of its key initiatives, HLB @ Kampung, promotes financial inclusion by equipping local communities with digital payment tools, transforming them into “Cashless Kampungs” and fostering participation in the digital economy.

Woon Siew Hoong, Head of SME Banking at Hong Leong Bank, emphasized the bank’s dedication to supporting SMEs with both digital solutions and personalized assistance. “Our digital tools streamline operations, while our community managers provide the necessary guidance and connections to help SMEs succeed,” he noted.

Group Managing Director and CEO Kevin Lam highlighted the bank’s implementation of cutting-edge digital solutions, including streamlined business onboarding, faster trade processing, and an optimized loan approval system.
