Honoring Dr. Bhakti Yadav: The Gynaecologist Who Gave Free Care for 68 Years

5 OCTOBER: Dr. Bhakti Yadav, Indore’s first female MBBS graduate, dedicated 68 years of her life to treating patients without charge. Beginning her medical journey in 1948, she prioritized caring for underprivileged women, especially the wives of mill workers.
She rejected lucrative government offers, choosing instead to work at Nandlal Bhandari Maternity Home.Throughout her career, she delivered thousands of babies, often refusing payment. Her personal approach, treating patients like her own children, set her apart.
In 2017, Dr. Yadav was honored with the Padma Shri before passing away the same year, leaving behind an enduring legacy of service as stated in Astro Ulagam.
