Increase in Flood Victims in Selangor, Kedah, and Perak

5th OCTOBER: Recent reports indicate a slight rise in the number of flood victims across the Malaysian states of Selangor, Kedah, and Perak.

The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) has confirmed that the ongoing heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding, particularly affecting several districts.As of the latest update, Selangor has reported the highest number of affected individuals, with over 1,500 people displaced and seeking refuge in relief centers.

In Kedah, approximately 700 victims have been reported, with many residents in low-lying areas facing inundation. Perak has also experienced similar challenges, with hundreds of individuals impacted by the rising waters.

Authorities are working diligently to assess the situation, providing assistance and ensuring the safety of those affected. Evacuations are underway in the most severely hit areas, with local agencies coordinating efforts to deliver essential supplies and medical aid.

In response to the flooding, NADMA has urged residents to remain vigilant and heed safety advisories. Weather forecasts suggest that heavy rainfall may continue in the coming days, raising concerns about further flooding.

The government has emphasized its commitment to supporting affected communities and restoring normalcy as swiftly as possible.
