India to make necessary arrangements to evacuate Hindus stuck in Afghanistan

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19: The Afghanistan government has crumbled on Aug 15 and the Taliban seized Kabul, the country’s six-million-strong capital.
The Taliban have captured cities and provinces, including Kandahar, Afghanistan’s second-largest city, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Meanwhile, according to India today, representatives of the Taliban have met leaders of Kabul’s minuscule Sikh and Hindu communities just hours after entering the city, urging them not to fear them or flee the country.
Instead, according to the reports, Taliban have given the community leaders their phone numbers and encouraged them to call them if they have any problems and raise their white flag to avoid any misunderstanding.
It may seem unbelievable given the minorities’ expectations of Taliban retaliation and the reversal of the freedom they once had, yet for the time being, they believe they may breathe freely.
Meanwhile, the Canadian government has declared that the country will permanently resettle 20,000 “vulnerable” Afghans, including Sikhs and Hindus, who are leaving the country’s war-torn country in the middle of a Taliban insurgents’ deadly attack, India Today reported.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Times quoted the Indian Union Ministry of External Affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri
as saying that the Indian government will be responsible for bringing back stranded Indian nationals from Afghanistan, will make necessary arrangements for their evacuation.
The portal also reported that India has also announced a new category of electronic visas to fast-track applications of Afghans for entry into India from Afghanistan, which has plunged into crisis after the Taliban seized power.
