Hollywood stars John Cena and Idris Elba are set to deliver an explosive mix of action and comedy in their new buddy movie, “Heads of State,” which is now available for global streaming on Prime Video starting July 2, 2025.

The film sees Elba portray Sam Clarke, the British Prime Minister, while Cena steps into the role of Will Derringer, the US President. Despite a publicly tense rivalry that threatens to strain their nations’ alliance, the unlikely duo is forced to set aside their differences when they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary. Their perilous international escape is aided by the brilliant MI6 agent Noel, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Directed by Ilya Naishuller, known for his high-octane films “Hardcore Henry” and “Nobody,” “Heads of State” promises a thrilling blend of adrenaline-fueled sequences and sharp comedic timing. The movie, which was picked up by Amazon Studios in 2020, also features a star-studded ensemble cast including Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle, and Paddy Considine.

This marks a reunion for Elba and Cena, who previously co-starred in “The Suicide Squad” (2021). “Heads of State” is set to deliver a blockbuster experience for fans of smart, high-energy action comedies with a nostalgic nod to 1990s buddy films.
