JPJ Collects Over RM257 Million in Fines from Commercial Vehicles

By Loshinniy Nair S. Baskaran,

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) of Malaysia has collected more than RM257 million in fines from commercial vehicles between January 2023 and July 2024. This significant amount was accrued through penalties for traffic violations and regulatory non-compliance.

The JPJ’s Director-General revealed the data, emphasizing the department’s intensified enforcement efforts to enhance road safety. The substantial fines contribute to government revenue and support the upkeep of road safety standards.

By targeting issues such as overloading and speeding, the JPJ aims to address risks and enforce compliance. This initiative highlights the critical role of strict law enforcement in maintaining road safety and the broader goal of improving traffic management across Malaysia, as stated in Malaymail.
