By Sharunya Raja

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6: Former Hindraf leader, K. Vasantha Kumar will submit a memorandum to the Selangor Menteri Besar’s office on the current plight of residents from Ladang Dusun Durian, Banting.

Vasantha Kumar said hundreds of residents have been living  in dilapidated homes, with twenty-five of them families living without power for over 35 days.

According to Vasantha Kumar, a private company, which leases the land in Ladang Dusun Durian, has cut off the electricity as the land’s lease has ended.

“Following Pakatan Harapan’s takeover of Selangor state in 2008, there was a pledge to build new houses for the inhabitants of Ladang Dusun Durian, which was not fulfilled.

“We have previously battled for this problem, but have received no answer,” he added.

“On October 15 we are going to State Government Office of Selangor to submit the report for the sake of hundreds of families here.

“Everyone should stand together with us to solve this issue,” he said.
