The pan-India fantasy action film Kanguva, featuring Suriya in the lead role, has been rescheduled to release in theaters on November 14, to avoid a box office showdown with Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan. Originally slated for an October 10 debut, Kanguva will now premiere alongside the anticipated Rajinikanth-starring film.
Directed by Siva, Kanguva is promoted as a grand “mighty valiant saga” and is produced by UV Creations and Studio Green. The film also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani. Studio Green announced the updated release date on its official social media accounts, stating, “The Battle of Pride and Glory, for the World to Witness. #Kanguva’s mighty reign storms screens from 14-11-24 #KanguvaFromNov14.” The new motion poster showcases Suriya and Bobby Deol with their backs turned towards each other, against a backdrop of a fierce battle symbolized by a tiger and flames.
With an estimated budget exceeding ₹350 crore, Kanguva stands as one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. It promises one of the largest war sequences in cinema, involving over 10,000 participants. Produced by K E Gnanavel Raja, V Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati, the film features a musical score by DSP, known for his work on Pushpa: The Rise. Besides Suriya, Bobby, and Disha, the film’s extensive cast includes Jagapathi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, and K. S. Ravikumar.
In March, Prime Video announced that Kanguva will be available for streaming on its platform following its theatrical release. The OTT giant shared the film’s poster and detailed the story’s expansive timeline, which spans from the 1700s to 2023, focusing on a hero tasked with completing an unfinished mission.
