23 SEPTEMBER: Mohd Taufik Sahrudin, a 38-year-old from Kluang, turned his passion for hiking into a successful business selling second-hand clothes. Initially struggling with the high cost of outdoor equipment, Taufik began purchasing affordable, second-hand items from Korea, Japan, and the United States. In 2013, he started selling these goods at local markets, eventually opening his own store, Bundle Hiking Kluang, two years ago.
Located near Gunung Lambak, his shop offers various hiking gear like shoes and backpacks, priced between RM10 and RM200. Despite facing challenges, including stock shortages and misconceptions about second-hand items, Taufik has steadily grown his business, aided by financial support from Tekun Nasional. Social media, particularly TikTok, plays a crucial role in driving his monthly sales, which can reach five figures as stated in NST.
