7 FEBRUARY: Beginning February 19, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) will expand restrictions on heavy vehicles accessing certain Klang Valley highways during peak hours.
The affected highways include the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), and North-South Expressway (PLUS).
According to an LLM statement posted on Facebook, the restriction—officially gazetted on October 21, 2024—is part of a Cabinet Committee initiative on Road Safety and Traffic Congestion aimed at improving traffic flow in the Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur city center.
With the exception of public holidays, the restriction will apply Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It will affect:
- Class Two vehicles: Six-wheeled vehicles with two axles (excluding buses).
- Class Three vehicles: Vehicles with three or more axles (excluding buses).
However, LLM clarified that heavy vehicles used for highway maintenance, emergency and law enforcement services, cleaning, rubbish disposal, and household waste collection will be exempt from the restriction.
