Lorry Driver Dies in Five-Vehicle Crash on North-South Expressway

Kuala Lumpur, 15 August 2024: A five-vehicle collision at KM 301.1 (northbound) on the North-South Motorway near Gopeng early on Thursday morning claimed the life of a truck driver who was stuck in his car.
10 firefighters and five fire engines were sent to the location after a call about the incident was received at 2:37 a.m., according to Sabarozi Nor Ahmad, Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
“The accident involved three trailers, a one-tonne lorry, and an MPV, causing a traffic jam that stretched approximately seven kilometers,” he said.
A man in his 30s was trapped in the driver’s seat of a trailer lorry that had collided with another trailer. He suffered severe head injuries, a crushed left leg, and multiple fractures, as stated by The Star
The driver of the MPV, whose car was rear-ended by the one-ton lorry with eggs and three other persons, also suffered minor injuries.
“Medical staff declared the trapped victim dead after removing her from the wreckage. The injured people were brought to the hospital so they might receive additional care,” he continued, – The Star
