Majority of Malaysians Prefer Messaging: WhatsApp Links Consumers and Enterprises – Meta

KUALA LUMPUR 28 AUGUST: According to Meta Malaysia, WhatsApp significantly contributes to businesses’ and consumers’ ability to communicate easily, enabling them to expand and create lasting relationships.
During the keynote speech at Meta’s inaugural business messaging event in Malaysia, WhatsApp Sessions: Grow Your Business, she stated, “We’re investing in new capabilities that help businesses build their presence on WhatsApp and better connect with customers.”
According to Tan, 76% of Malaysian internet adults would message a company directly after clicking on one of its social media advertisements. “This is how big WhatsApp is right now for businesses in Malaysia,” she stated. Enea Minuti, product marketing manager for Meta in Southeast Asia, announced that all qualified small businesses in Malaysia utilizing the WhatsApp Business app can now get Meta Verified.

Seven out of ten Malaysians preferred messaging a business over calling or emailing, per Kantar’s 2024 Business Messaging Usage Research. Meta commissioned the study, which also showed that around 80% of Malaysians message a business at least once a week.
