Malaysia Seeks UNESCO Executive Board Seat

1st September 2024 – Malaysia is actively campaigning for a seat on the UNESCO Executive Board, as announced by its Foreign Minister, Zambry Abd Kadir.

This initiative reflects Malaysia’s commitment to enhancing its influence within the United Nations system and contributing to global education, science, and culture.

Zambry emphasized Malaysia’s strong track record in promoting multiculturalism, peace, and sustainable development, making it a valuable candidate.

The country has previously held positions on the UNESCO board, and this bid aligns with its long-term vision to play a more significant role in international decision-making processes, as stated in Free Malaysia Today.
