Malaysia to Launch Final-Stage System for Detecting Overloaded Vehicles
By Subaashinee Kupusamy,
7 NOVEMBER: Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport has reached the final stages of implementing an advanced system to detect overloaded vehicles. The system is designed to prevent damage to roads and ensure traffic safety by identifying heavy vehicles exceeding weight limits. Equipped with Weigh-in-Motion (WiM) technology, it captures real-time vehicle weights without disrupting traffic flow. This technology will be deployed at strategic locations nationwide, integrating with enforcement units for immediate action on offenders.
The ministry aims to reduce road maintenance costs and improve safety with this initiative, which is expected to be operational soon as stated in FMT.
