The podium was not expected to be dominated by the three of them, as stated by the gold medal winner, Poovasanthan.
“I don’t know when the last time Malaysian athletes took the top three places in an overseas competition was,” said Poovasanthan.
He also said that this victory gives them a lot of confidence heading towards the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which will be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from May 5 to 17.
Vasanthan will take part in the 10,000-metre run for men in the upcoming SEA Games.
Ikbolasen will compete for his country in the men’s 10,000-metre run as well as the 5,000-metre run. Meanwhile, Daren will take part in the men’s 3,000-metre steeplechase and 5,000-metre run. – Says.com
