Malaysian Government Opens Recruitment for NAIO Positions

The Malaysian government is actively seeking candidates to fill critical leadership roles within the newly established National AI Office (NAIO). Officially launched on August 28th of this year, the NAIO received Cabinet approval to position Malaysia as a prominent player in the AI landscape, both within ASEAN and on the global stage.
“NAIO’s mission is to elevate the nation’s AI capabilities by driving innovation, encouraging collaboration across multiple sectors, and facilitating the seamless integration of AI into governmental, industrial, and societal frameworks. This office will lead initiatives designed to harness the power of AI to bolster the digital economy, enhance public services, and support Malaysia’s contributions to sustainable development goals,” according to a government representative.
Initially, NAIO will operate under the supervision of MyDIGITAL Corporation, the agency responsible for overseeing Malaysia’s broader digital transformation. This arrangement will be in place until the NAIO is formally launched in November 2024. As a pivotal force in the country’s AI advancements, the office is set to drive the development of AI infrastructure, fostering an environment that promotes the adoption, research, and commercialization of AI across various sectors.
