Malaysians in Northern Vietnam Advised to Brace for Typhoon Yagi

7 SEPTEMBER: The Malaysian Embassy in Hanoi has urged Malaysians in northern Vietnam to prepare for Typhoon Yagi, which is expected to hit the region, including Hanoi, today.


In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the embassy warned of heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential hazards such as flooding, flash floods, and landslides.


From yesterday evening until Monday morning, northern and north-central Vietnam are forecasted to experience heavy rains ranging between 100 to 300 millimeters, with some areas expected to receive over 500 millimeters of rainfall, according to the statement.


Authorities have issued warnings of possible flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods in rivers and streams, and landslides in vulnerable regions.


Malaysians living, working, or traveling in affected areas are advised to stay updated on local news over the coming days.


The embassy also urged Malaysians to register at e-konsular via this link and follow all necessary precautions, including adhering to the advice and instructions of local authorities.
