Man Burnt with Grass Cutter, Believed Dead for 3 Days

9th September 2024 – A severely burnt body was found next to a grass-cutting machine at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Parit Abdul Rahman, Benut. Police believe the man, in his 60s, had died three days earlier. The discovery was made by the plantation owner around 12:30 p.m. The man was identified as a grass cutter working at the plantation.
Preliminary investigations revealed no signs of foul play, and the case has been classified as sudden death. Authorities suspect the fire may have been caused by the grass-cutting machine, though the investigation is still ongoing. The body has been sent to Pontian Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Pontian District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohammad Shofee Tayib, urged the public not to spread rumors or speculate about the incident. The incident has shocked the local community, as the plantation area is generally quiet and peaceful. Authorities are now awaiting the post-mortem results to determine the exact cause of death, as stated in Berita Harian
