Man Dies in Kuching House Collapse

4th January 2025: A 58-year-old man, identified as Lim Inn Tong, was killed when his single-storey house on Jalan Stampin Baru in Kuching collapsed early Saturday morning.The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call at 2:50 am reporting the incident.

Upon arrival, firefighters were informed of a victim trapped inside the collapsed structure. They initiated a search and rescue operation, locating Lim unconscious beneath the debris. He was extricated by 4:05 am and pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer. The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the collapse.

This tragic incident coincides with a weather advisory from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), which has warned of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds in East Malaysia, including Sarawak, effective until noon today.Residents in affected areas are advised to stay updated with the latest weather information and take necessary precautions to ensure safety, as stated in The Star.
