By Subaashinee Kupusamy,

8 SEPTEMBER: A man was killed, and two others were injured in a three-vehicle crash at Kilometer 11 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat on Saturday night.

Rompin District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Nor Azman Yusof, said the police were alerted to the accident at around 10.40 p.m.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was traveling from Segamat towards Muadzam Shah when his car suddenly veered into the opposite lane and collided with a lorry transporting live chickens. The impact caused the lorry to overturn in the middle of the road.

At the same time, a trailer carrying a load of sand, which was following the lorry, failed to stop in time and collided with the overturned vehicles.

The 38-year-old driver of the Proton Saga car was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was sent to Muadzam Shah Hospital for a post-mortem. The lorry and trailer drivers, aged 39 and 60 respectively, sustained only minor injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police are urging witnesses of the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the nearest police station as stated in Sinar Harian.
