Matriculation: Stop the discrimination against Indian students – NGO

KUALA LUMPUR: United Malaysian Hindu Youth Fellowship (UMHYF) has demanded that the government should offer placement in the matriculation programme to the qualified Indian students.

Recently, it was reported that more than 200 Indian students were denied entry into the matriculation programme.

UMHYF president S.Devash said that: “There was a phrase in this country say “Indians can only survive through education”…but the question now is “can a poor Indian student really get a proper education opportunity in this country?”

“The recent news have striked my eyes where more than 200 Indian students were not offered to the Matriculations programme.

“Although many of these students scored straight A’s, but still they got rejected.

“A total of 10% allocation have been supposedly allocated to the non-Bumiputeras, but are the Indian students are getting enough allocation?

“We urge the government to offer Indian students entry into the Matriculations programme.

“They should also be given a chance to pursue their further studies at public universities with full government scholarship,” he added.
