Media Prima Shines at Kinabalu Press Awards with Multiple Wins

30 SEPTEMBER: Kumpulan Media Prima Berhad (MPB) emerged as the top winner at the Kinabalu Press Awards, taking home five major awards and nine merits.

Harian Metro secured the Best Sports Reporting award for “Bakat Luar Biasa Isabelle,” written by freelance journalist Recqueal Raimi. New Straits Times (NST) won the Best Group Report for their series on the Sabah Political Crisis, with reporter Olivia Miwil earning three merit awards in Entertainment, Culture and Arts, News Reporting, and Business and Economics in English. Freelance writer Roy Goh also received merit recognition in the English Journalism category for his feature and non-feature work.

Berita Harian (BH) journalists Thaddius Unnip, along with TV3’s Safwan Sawi and Mohammed Fairuz Yazzer, also garnered merit awards. Notably, Yazzer and Joseph George P. Loling from TV3 took the Best Broadcast Journalism award for their report on crocodile threats in Sabah.

The event was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, with further support from Sabah’s Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, and Sabah Journalists Association President Datuk Muguntan Vanar as stated in myMetro.
