MIHWF to launch nationwide roadshows

Datuk M. Devman Segar

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22: The Malaysian International Humanitarian Welfare Foundation (MIHWF) will soon kick-start a nationwide roadshow to inform the public about the foundation’s mission and vision.

MIHWF founding President and Trustee Datuk Devman Segar said the roadshow would be crucial to familiarise the foundation with the people.

“We would kick-start the roadshow in major urban areas first,” said Devman.

The foundation was registered under the Prime Minister’s Department early this year.

MIHWF aims to launch its RM1 per person per month donation drive during the roadshows.

Devman said the public would be urged to donate RM1 each monthly to the foundation for financial support to execute its agenda effectively and efficiently.

“We expect a good public response to our donation drive.”

Devman said MIHWF main goals are to assist lower income Malaysians to attain education excellence, technical skills and human development.

The newly established foundation will carry out various educational and technical skill development programmes, and motivational courses in coming years for needy students from primary school to tertiary education levels.

The foundation will also include ex-convicts and youths with social problems under the programmes.

Devman said the foundation would assist the targetted groups of people to be self-reliant and more organised in managing their lives.

MIHWF will liaise with all relevant state governments and agencies to realise its mission and vision for the betterment of Malaysians and Malaysia.

“We will adopt poor students and schools to provide quality education,” said Devman.

The non-governmental humanitarian body also aims to carry out relief aid programmes for victims of war, natural disasters and diseases among others.

The foundation will forge close working ties with various local and international organisations and governments, and political parties and lawmakers to achieve its objectives.

Devman said the foundation would provide assistance to all humans regardless of their race, religion and nationality to upgrade their standard of living.

“We will explain all these in our roadshows.
“We will build a strong collaboration with the United Nations and other international organisations to achieve our goals,” said Devman.

He said the foundation would also promote and recommend local philanthropists and good Samaritans to get recognition, appreciation and accreditation for their humanitarian and welfare works.

He said the foundation will engage local and foreign universities and organisations to honour the philanthropists and good Samaritans, including conferring them honorary doctorate in humanitarian works.

“MIHWF will explore all ways and means to help the needy people, and to acknowledge and value local humanitarian and welfare activists.
“This will enhance Malaysia’s international image and reputation,” Devman.
“With a strong public support, morally and financially, MIHWF can achieve its goals.”
