5 September: A motorcyclist narrowly escaped death after a Perodua Axia flipped on the Sprint Highway on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred around 10am and was captured on video by a Facebook user, @Aurizn. The footage shows a Perodua Myvi in the left lane slowing down, prompting the Axia behind to swerve at the last minute. Unfortunately, the Axia clipped the rear of the Myvi, causing it to flip onto the middle lane.
In a frantic attempt to avoid the overturned vehicle, a motorcyclist swerved sharply but collided with the Axia’s undercarriage. The impact sent the rider crashing into the concrete barrier on the right side of the highway.
Authorities confirmed that the motorcyclist survived the crash, though the full extent of his injuries remains unknown. The New Straits Times has reached out to the police for an official statement but has yet to receive a response.
The video of the crash has ignited discussions on social media about road safety, with many calling for greater caution among both drivers and motorcyclists.
In the comment section of the video, a user named Huzairi Rashid, who claimed to be a friend of the motorcyclist, provided an update, stating that the victim had been taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital and is in stable condition. Rashid also requested the video for potential legal action.
No further updates from the authorities have been released as state in NST.
